In loving memory of Loughlin Hickey

Everyone at Jericho was hugely saddened to hear of the untimely death of Loughlin Hickey.

Loughlin was always one of the brightest stars in the Jericho orbit. We shared 12a Charterhouse Square with Blueprint for Better Business, the organisation he helped found. As Head of Tax for KPMG International, he paved the way for our decade-long work on responsible tax. In his so-called “retirement” he beavered away on every aspect of responsible business. Loughlin was always there with sage, wise and generous advice, more so when there was the prospect of having a nice glass of red at the end of the meeting and fun to be had.

Recently Loughlin was providing Jericho with counsel on our Business and Democracy Commission, but he seemed to be advising just about everyone on any matter concerning the role of business in creating the common good. In recent years Loughlin was focusing more and more on the place of lived experience in decision-making – especially in terms of guiding corporate decision-making.

The pain of such a quick and far too early loss is only tempered by the fact and the feeling that Loughlin will live in our hearts and our minds for as long as we have them. We will honour him by continuing the work to negotiate the best possible future for all between business, civil society and democracy.

RIP Loughlin.
