Our Heritage 2040

The idea for this project was developed by the Sizewell Community Working Group – local residents and employers in the Suffolk Coastal area thinking optimistically about “what next?” for the region. The emphasis is on innovation and imagination. The project commenced in early 2020 but added poignancy and urgency is provided by the COVID-19 crisis.

This page hosts articles from members of the Working Group, along with access to Further Reading on relevant subjects. An anthology of essays and interviews, Our Heritage 2040: A New Energy for the Suffolk Coast, was published in autumn 2020. It focuses on the tourism and energy sectors and Suffolk’s precious and outstanding Heritage Coast. Its ambition is to understand how best to reconcile global energy needs and local environmental responsibilities within a shared commitment to a Net Zero Carbon future.

The latest publication Our Heritage 2040: Embracing the Past, Securing the Future, edited by Jericho Partner Matthew Gwyther and supported by Sizewell C, brings together diverse perspectives to examine the opportunities and challenges facing the Suffolk Coast. It fosters innovative thinking and collaboration to help secure a vibrant future for the region.
